Largest Spanish Airline adds Salzburg to its flight network
Spaniards will be flown to Salzburg's recreational areas twice a week in the winter season 2024/25 / Salzburg gains exciting city destination with Madrid
Iberia, the largest Spanish airline and member of International Airlines Group (IAG) and oneworld Alliance, will connect Salzburg with the Spanish metropolis of Madrid twice a week (Wednesday, Saturday) from the coming winter season. "New routes and new airline partners are important for Salzburg! I am therefore all the more pleased about the new Iberia flight connection from Salzburg to Madrid from next winter. The flights will not only give Spanish guests the opportunity to enjoy winter in the Salzburg mountains, but also to discover Salzburg culturally or to take advantage of the numerous shopping offers!", says Bettina Ganghofer, CEO of Salzburg Airport.
Salzburg is one of the top destinations for winter sports guests. With the new connection to Salzburg, Iberia offers winter sports enthusiasts from Spain a direct flight option to Salzburg. But the new direct flight is also an ideal opportunity for the people in Salzburg and the entire region to get to know the Spanish metropolis of Madrid. "For a short city trip, it's ideal to fly out on Wednesday and return home on Saturday. Those, who want to stay longer than three days, also have this option with the twice-weekly flights," Ganghofer continues.

Although the Spanish royal family no longer lives in the palace, it is still used for representative purposes. Art and culture enthusiasts can look forward to a variety of museums, including the Museo del Prado, the Thyssen Museum and the Museo Reina Sofia. Plaza Cibeles is home to Madrid City Hall, which was built in 1919 and from the roof of which you can enjoy a wonderful view over the city.
