New summer destination to Copenhagen / Every Saturday from Salzburg to the Danish capital with Scandinavian Airlines / Direct connection from the beginning of June to the end of September
The first flight of Scandinavian Airlines (SAS) to Copenhagen took place this morning. The Scandinavian airline based in Stockholm will be connecting the city of Mozart with Copenhagen until September 28. "Copenhagen has now also landed in summer," says a delighted Bettina Ganghofer, Managing Director of Salzburg Airport, "from now on the route will not only bring guests from Denmark to Salzburg, a week trip to Copenhagen is also an ideal additional vacation option for the local population." SAS has been a reliable airline partner in the winter season for years and brings numerous winter sports enthusiasts from the far north to Salzburg during the cold season. But SalzbugerLand is not just a winter Eldorado, it offers so much more! Picturesque alpine pastures, impressive gorges, a unique lake landscape, show mines, castles, palaces and historic buildings, top gastronomy and numerous opportunities for sporting activities - Salzburg is also a popular place to go on vacation in summer and find relaxation or a sporting challenge in the mountains.
"The flight program from Salzburg is very attractive and offers many opportunities to reach destinations worldwide. The city destination of Copenhagen is a wonderful addition to the summer route network. In winter, many Danish guests have already been taking advantage of the opportunity to vacation in the local recreation areas for years, and now they can also spend the summer in Salzburg's mountains or at the crystal-clear lakes with the new summer route," says Stefan Schnöll, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.

Off to Copenhagen!
Copenhagen is known worldwide for its high quality of life, has been voted one of the world's most liveable cities on several occasions and offers an impressive mix of modern architecture and historical sights. An absolute must-see for every visitor to Copenhagen are the colorful houses in Copenhagen's Nyhavn harbor, where cafés, restaurants and dance bars line up side by side. A boat trip opens up a completely different view of Copenhagen, typical sights such as Christianshavn, Børsen or the Parliament can be seen from an entirely different perspective.
A free highlight is the Free Walking Tour - here volunteers offer daily tours of their city, including a visit to the most important sights such as the Little Mermaid (Copenhagen's landmark) and the Tivoli amusement park. Tips on what else to do in the Danish capital are included. By the way - the best view over the city is from the Vor Frelsers Kirke. Have you ever heard of the free city of Christiania? An autonomous hippie free city in the middle of Europe, in the middle of Copenhagen! Founded in 1971 by squatters, the 34-hectare community with around 1,000 residents has its own rules and is one of the city's biggest tourist attractions. Colorful architecture, arts and crafts exhibitions and the Green Light District - for a long time, the open sale of cannabis on Pusher Street was normal until the street was cleared by the police in 2017/2018. Today, Christiania is a safe neighborhood not to be missed when visiting Copenhagen.
A culinary insider tip is the small restaurant Slice of San Francisco on Frederiksholms Canal, which offers reasonably priced menus and a small but very fine selection of different dishes - it also serves the best darn cheesecake in Copenhagen. The city offers a variety of attractions for the whole family, from Danish design and many sights to top-quality food in restaurants and markets.
