Winter guests on new flight connections from Italy and Spain / Naples & Barcelona are attractive destinations with mild temperatures / Experience a variety of activities and festivities.
Southern Europe offers a wide range of destinations in winter that are perfect for a diverse and relaxing break. Starting this winter, the two city destinations of Naples & Barcelona will be quickly accessible with easyJet directly from Salzburg at attractive flight prices. "Naples & Barcelona are welcome additions to our range of city breaks with short flight times. I am convinced that these routes will be well received by Salzburg residents as well as guests from Italy and Spain. These destinations will certainly be an enrichment for winter tourism in Salzburg," says Bettina Ganghofer, Managing Director of Salzburg Airport. Already in winter 2023/24, the province of Salzburg experienced a significant increase in tourists from Italy (+203%) and Spain (+102%) - the new connection will also have a positive effect on this. Naples will be included in the winter program from 7 December and will be served until the end of March, Barcelona will follow on 11 January until the end of February. "Currently, flights on Saturday are planned for both destinations. There is a good chance that we will be able to offer an additional flight to Naples during the week. This is expected to be released for booking in the next few weeks," Ganghofer continues.

"We are delighted to announce the new direct connections to and from Salzburg today. Our customers now have a wider choice of flight connections to Austria's top winter destinations. Our long-term cooperation with local airports and our continuous growth across Europe have enabled us to expand our route network in Austria. This gives our customers more choice and they choose our flights because of the trusted brand, unrivaled route network and low fares," says Thomas Haagensen, Managing Director easyJet Europe.
Both cities offer a variety of sights and attractions and yet have different characteristics. While Barcelona is a modern architectural city with a vibrant atmosphere, Naples is characterized by its rich history and traditional Neapolitan cuisine. "These are top destinations for both winter visitors and Salzburg residents, as Italy and Spain are quickly and easily accessible by plane. For me, these are positive signals for the coming winter, because with Barcelona and Naples we also want to leverage additional potential on the markets in the south," says a pleased Deputy Governor Stefan Schnöll. Salzburg is an extremely attractive winter holiday destination: the natural urban beauty with an impressive mountain landscape, the historical heritage of the region, the unique culinary diversity of the local gastronomy, the numerous winter festivals and cultural events - all these factors make Salzburg a unique destination for winter holidaymakers from these countries.
Naples - birthplace of pizza UNESCO World Heritage Site
Naples is the capital of the Italian region of Campania, famous for its "original Neapolitan pizza" and the impressive architecture of the historic old town. Just under 28 kilometers lie between the old town of Naples and the destroyer of Pompeii - Mount Vesuvius. In winter, the city is a little quieter and sights such as Naples Cathedral, Castel dell'Ovo and Piazza del Plebiscito can be visited in a more relaxed environment than in summer.
Barcelona - the city of culture and architecture
Barcelona is probably one of the most famous cities in Spain and offers a multitude of cultural and architectural sights. In winter, the city is not overrun by tourists and famous places such as the Sagrada Família, Park Güell and Casa Batlló can be visited without the hustle and bustle of summer. In addition, there are many ways to explore Barcelona - the metro or Barcelona's extensive bus system take visitors to all places in the city of 1.6 million inhabitants.
