On September 19th and 20th 2018 up to 30 high-ranking political delegations from all over the EU will be expected in Salzburg.
We would like to inform our customers at an early stage to expect enhanced security measures in Salzburg during this period of time. These measures will also affect Salzburg Airport.
Since the Schengen Agreement will not only be out of force during the summit, but from September 17th until September 21st 2018, there will also be passport/ID controls for all passengers arriving or departing from the airport. Domestic flights within Austria however, will not be affected!
Note: Please expect stricter border- and passport controls at the German and Austrian borders as well! If you are departing from Salzburg during this period of time, please plan some extra time for your journey to the airport.
Please do not forget your passport or ID-card! Passengers must not depart from Salzburg without carrying their passport or identification document.
In addition, access controls to the airport will be enhanced from September 19th to September 20th 2018. This may affect passengers, suppliers, taxis and people who intend to pick up arriving guests. These security measures may also cause delays. We kindly ask passengers to allow some extra time for their journey to the airport.
The EU summit in Salzburg may also cause restrictions in the private aviation sector. This could even lead to the closure of the airspace for a certain time. We recommend avoiding training flights as well as private aviation on these two days.
