After years of negotiating with the Headquarter in Istanbul, Turkish Airlines finally started flight operations from Salzburg with four flights a week.
In a short time, the flight connections offered between Salzburg and Istanbul were increased. Within the past six years, the Turkish National Carrier transported 406.145 passengers with 4.096 flight movements from Salzburg to Istanbul.
Exactly for the 6th anniversary of the Salzburg-Istanbul-connection, Turkish Airlines is increasing the number of flights from seven to ten weekly flights.
“The message for the passengers from the EuRegio Salzburg-Bavaria is quite clear: Salzburg is and will stay an important mainstay for Turkish Airlines in Austria! I am especially pleased that we can deliver this great news simultaneously with the reopening of our runway”, says Bettina Ganghofer, CEO of Salzburg Airport.
For numerous passengers Istanbul is no more than an intermediate stop during their trip. Passengers can reach more than 306 destinations in 124 countries via Istanbul.
Today many international guests from Arabic countries, where about 55 airports are connected, use this hub to visit the recreational regions in the catchment area of Salzburg Airport.
„Flights to Istanbul are very important to us. These flight connections allow passengers to reach destinations worldwide, especially the growing markets in Asia and the Near East. The local economy and tourism both benefit largely from this fact. I am absolutely convinced that flight frequencies will be increased further up to two daily flights”, says Bettina Ganghofer.
