The tunnel construction site on the A10 is causing traffic challenges this year again
Relief for winter guests and tourism businesses/ Bus connection 270 back in operation from 21.12.2024 / Tunnel construction on the A10 in combination with ÖBB route renovation / Six times to the airport every Saturday from the Eben park and ride parking lot
The regional bus route 270, which was introduced in 2024, was established due to the major traffic challenge posed by the tunnel construction site on the A10 and already brought thousands of passengers from Eben (Pongau) to Salzburg Airport last year. This step in Salzburg's mobility concept was a very important building block for both winter visitors to the region and commuters. Thanks to the new connection, hotel shuttles no longer have to travel all the way to the city of Salzburg, but can conveniently pick up guests at the park-and-ride parking lot in Eben. Due to extensive renovation work in the area of the Ofenau and Hiefler tunnels as well as the Werfen tunnel chain, there will also be obstructions on the A10 Tauernautobahn in Salzburg between September 10, 2024 and the end of June 2025. Real-time travel information can be found on the ASFINAG website:

“We ask all passengers, especially those who are on their way home, to allow sufficient time for their journey to the airport. This is the only way to ensure that check-in runs smoothly so that the aircraft can take off on time. Please note that the check-in deadlines must be strictly adhered to, as aircraft cannot wait for operational reasons,” says Bernhard Wodl, Chief Commercial Officer at Salzburg Airport.

Direct public transport from the airport to Pongau
Salzburg Airport has been working with partners for some time to develop a comprehensive mobility concept for employees, passengers and residents in the province of Salzburg, which is supported by the “Airport 4.0” project funded by the province. The buses on route 270 use the freeway for the most part, and in the area of the ASFiNAG construction site, the buses make progress thanks to the prioritization for regular buses by being allowed to use the emergency lane in case of traffic jams. According to the timetable, the buses need around 70 minutes to get from the airport to the park-and-ride in Eben.
