281st Supervisory Board meeting / Deputy Governor Stefan Schnöll becomes new Chairman / New Supervisory Board members take up their work / Former Deputy Governor and Supervisory Board Chairman Christian Stöckl hands over the helm after 11 years
Following the last election in the state of Salzburg, the composition of the new state government was announced on June 14, 2023. With the change of responsibilities in the various departments of the Salzburg state government, the positions on the supervisory boards of companies owned by the state must also be redefined. At today's 281st Supervisory Board meeting, the new Supervisory Board was constituted and the course of the supervisory body at Salzburg Airport was set for the coming years.
The path for the management of Salzburg Airport is clearly mapped out: dealing with the Covid years, reducing the investment backlog, securing existing flight connections and developing new routes as well as preparing for one of the largest investment and construction projects of recent decades - the planning and building of the new terminal landscape.
Major change on the Supervisory Board
At today's meeting, the new members of the Airport Supervisory Board took the places of former Supervisory Board members Günter Oblasser, Christine Seemann MTD, Commercial Councilor Andrea Stifter, Johannes Vetter (FH) and Elisabeth Ziegler. "I would like to thank the outgoing Supervisory Board members who have accompanied the airport through turbulent times in recent years. The cooperation was always constructive, characterized by a professional understanding of aviation and always for the benefit of our airport. At the same time, I am delighted about the new members of the Supervisory Board. We find ourselves in challenging times and welcome any support that will ensure the continued and further development of the largest provincial airport in Austria," says Bettina Ganghofer, Managing Director of the airport. Former Deputy Governor Dr. Christian Stöckl is also handing over his office after more than 10 years as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. "Christian Stöckl was an outstanding Chairman of the Supervisory Board, he always kept an eye on the numbers, but also knew how to provide support wherever necessary. He was a promoter and supporter of the airport and I am delighted to take over his role as Chairman at Salzburg Airport," said the new Deputy Governor Stefan Schnöll.
The new Supervisory Board introduces itself
The new Supervisory Board was constituted at the 281st meeting and the new members took up their work. Stefan Schnöll, Deputy Governor, Alexander Diwald, Petra Mödlhammer-Prantner, Christina König, Dieter Hofer and Dr. Rémy Horcicka were welcomed to the Supervisory Board. Dr. Johannes Hörl, Deputy Mayor Bernhard Auinger and local councillor Dr. Christian Fuchs were already members of the old Supervisory Board. "I am delighted about the challenge of chairing the airport as Chairman of the Supervisory Board. The airport is indispensable for Salzburg and many companies and corporations specifically choose our province and the city as a company location because we can offer good transportation connections and an attractive environment in Salzburg," says Deputy Governor and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Stefan Schnöll. Within the Salzburg state government, Deputy Governor Stefan Schnöll is responsible for the areas of business, tourism, municipalities, labor market policy, infrastructure, transport and culture, which means that there are many points of contact and common interests with the airport as a transport hub in the interests of the state of Salzburg. "We have to take a holistic approach to transport, which is why I am delighted that the airport is now also part of my remit. It is important that we can offer a continuous connection from the first to the last mile and that is why it is so important that the means of transport are coordinated with each other.
We are also promoting the networking of different modes of transport to create a holistic mobility hub with the Airport 4.0 project, as Salzburg Airport acts as an important building block and central transport hub with a clearly defined function: providing the province with important flight connections for business, industry and tourism," says Schnöll. Above all, the last mile for passengers and residents - how do I get from my home town to the airport and how do I get from the airport to the vacation regions - are clearly the focus here.
