The end of the summer season was challenging / extreme weather events, a large number of lost or delayed baggage, delays in European airspace / operational departments worked at full speed / Station Award in appreciation of the airlines
This year's summer season also showed that the performance of European air traffic and smooth operations at some airports still have a lot of room for improvement. Even in 2023, the aviation industry has not yet reached pre-crisis levels and the recovery is still ongoing. Capacity bottlenecks at the airlines, operational bottlenecks at the major hub airports, airspace congestion with closures due to the war in Ukraine, challenging weather phenomena throughout Europe with fires and flooding in the destination areas - all of these events also have a direct impact on all airports in the airlines' destination network.
It is important to counteract these adversities quickly, flexibly and professionally! Professional service at the airport, fast performance at check-in, baggage and aircraft handling on the apron also have a significant impact on passenger satisfaction. For these services, Salzburg Airport was honored with the Station Award for excellent ground handling performance by Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings. The airport management congratulates all colleagues for their great performance under the challenging conditions of this summer season.
"We have mastered this summer very well, our teams have done a highly professional job and our largest airline partner, Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings, has honored this accordingly. I am very pleased about this Station Award, which highlights the great performance of our operational colleagues," says a delighted Bettina Ganghofer, Managing Director of Salzburg Airport.
