Airbus A320 with special attire as advertising ambassador for Salzburg in the air throughout Europe / Branding draws attention to the Salzburg vacation region / Joint project of Salzburg Airport with Eurowings and SalzburgerLand Tourismus
Why not use unusual means to draw attention to the unique vacation and recreation region of Salzburg? That's what the airport's marketing experts thought and, together with SalzburgerLand Tourismus and Lufthansa subsidiary Eurowings, came up with an ingenious advertising idea. Where normally only the airline name and license plate can be found, “Salzburg” is now being carried out into the world. “It is a special pleasure for us to be able to present Salzburg beyond the borders together with our long-standing partner Eurowings. This special form of advertising generates a high level of attention for our airport, the city and the region and thus attracts more guests to the city and the province of Salzburg. Because one thing is certain - those who arrive by plane don't just come for a few hours, these passengers have come to stay longer,” says Bettina Ganghofer, Managing Director of Salzburg Airport.
Spreading advertising messages directly on and with the aircraft guarantees a high recall factor for all viewers. “We are an airport and we want to bring as many quality passengers and overnight guests to Salzburg as possible. So, what could be more obvious than using unusual advertising spaces?” Ganghofer continues.
Austria is a classic tourist destination and lives in part from the people who come to visit throughout the year. Salzburg plays a key role here as the “heart of western Austria”, especially in winter tourism. As an important transportation hub, Salzburg Airport has welcomed many millions of passengers over the last few decades who have chosen Salzburg as their summer or winter holiday destination.
“Over 75 percent of our guests come from abroad - especially guests from Europe, but also from long-distance markets such as the USA, Asia and the Arab world appreciate our world-class cultural offerings and the wide range of activities in the Alpine nature,” says Leo Bauernberger, Managing Director of SalzburgerLand Tourismus Gesellschaft (SLTG). “For us as an international premium destination, strong mobility partners with a global network are therefore crucial for future success. We are delighted that Eurowings will no longer 'only' bring guests from all over Europe quickly and conveniently to Salzburg Airport, but will also visibly promote SalzburgerLand beyond our borders,” says SLT Managing Director Leo Bauernberger.
“We are delighted that we are expanding our successful partnership with Salzburg Airport and SalzburgerLand Tourismus and now have a flying brand ambassador in our fleet. The Airbus A320 is a visible sign of our commitment to Salzburg and the entire region. Salzburg is the largest and most important base for Eurowings in Austria and from here, as the “home carrier of Salzburg”, we offer an attractive range of vacation destinations and city connections throughout Europe and at the same time bring many guests to Salzburg. We are proud that we are now flying an eye-catcher with the new brand ambassador, which will promote the Salzburg region at many airports in Europe,” says Eurowings COO Edi Wolfensberger.
