A Complete Success!
Nearly 400 athletes put on their running shoes today to take part in the popular airport run, in a very special setting, directly on the airport apron. Besides the sporting challenge, the motivation was to run as many kilometers as possible for the good cause. Every single kilometer was worth cash which was used for a social project of one of our neighbors in Wals, “Betreutes Wohnen” of the Lebenshilfe Salzburg.
In total 4642 kilometers were covered, which is about the 3,75 times the distance Salzburg – Palma de Mallorca. The Lebenshilfe Salzburg received a check in the amount of 12.000 Euro, which is used to create a relaxation room with special lighting and equipment.
The first event of this kind took place in 2014 and then again in the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, until the Corona pandemic stopped all kinds of events. In the course of all runs so far about 1300 athletes ran 20.000 kilometers, which is about halfway around the world.
We would like to thank all those who made this event possible and, of course, all athletes who took part in the event.
