Regional bus brings winter guests from the airport to Pongau on Saturdays
From December 16, new services on route 270 will create a direct connection between Salzburg Airport and Eben im Pongau. The new service is a response to the challenges posed by the A10 tunnel renovation and supports winter guests and tourism businesses during the high season. Hotel shuttles no longer have to drive into the city of Salzburg, but can pick up guests at the park and ride parking lot in Eben.
"We are introducing additional regional bus connections because we want to connect the line to Pongau via the airport on Saturdays. It is an attempt to motivate more people to switch to public transport," explains Deputy Governor Stefan Schnöll.
From 16.12.2023 to 13.04.2024, line 270 will run six times a day between Salzburg and Eben on "flight day" Saturday. In order to create a fast and reliable connection for winter guests, only three stops will be served: Salzburg main station - Salzburg Airport (terminal) - Eben P+R. "Tourist businesses can pick up their guests from the Eben Park and Ride parking lot. Hotel shuttles no longer have to travel into the city of Salzburg and we are creating a useful service for winter sports guests arriving by train or plane," says Johannes Gfrerer, Managing Director of Salzburger Verkehrsverbund GmbH.
Direct public transport from the airport to Pongau
The airport has been working with partners for some time on an integrated mobility concept for employees, passengers and people living in the province of Salzburg, supported by the Airport 4.0 project funded by the province of Salzburg. "Our airport is to be conceived as a central mobility hub for regional and supra-regional transport. The focus was on bus route 270 and it is a very pleasing initial result, especially for the upcoming peak season at Salzburg Airport, that Pongau is now even better connected to the capital of our federal state," says Bettina Ganghofer, Managing Director of the airport.
For most of the new connections, the buses on route 270 will travel via the highway. In the area of the ASFiNAG construction site, the routes use the prioritization of scheduled buses, which means they can use the emergency lane if there is a traffic jam. According to the timetable, the buses take 70 minutes between the airport and Eben P+R.
The timetable for the additional service on route 270 is available to download at www.salzburg-verkehr.at/fahrplandownload. The new connections are integrated into route planning, for example in the Salzburg Verkehr app and on
